Toledo vs. Central Michigan (CMU) Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 2-28-2023

Hopefully a little more competitive than the first time, the Central Michigan Chippewas (10-19, 12-15-0 ATS, 5-11 MAC) will host the Toledo Rockets (23-6, 16-11-0 ATS, 14-2 MAC) in late-season action. These teams met earlier in the month, although it's questionable if they were playing the same game. Toledo won by 25, covering as 18-point favorites easily, and never trailing in the contest. Their lead was 28 points at halftime and swelled to 33 at one point. Toledo has won 10 of the last 12 matchups with CMU. This edition of the series is taking place in Central Michigan's McGuirk Arena at 7:00 p.m. EST on Tuesday.

They say 13 is unlucky, but that's exactly how many games Toledo has won during their active winning streak. The latest wasn't close, as the Rockets took down Buffalo 101-71. Toledo shot 56.5% from three, 59.1% from the floor, and led by at least 20 points for the entire second half. Every starter finished with at least 14 points, and RayJ Dennis was two rebounds shy of a triple-double.

Ranking 88th in the nation per KenPom, the Rockets are expected to win the MAC Tournament and earn the conference's automatic bid for the NCAA Tournament. Winning on the road has been a key part of their run, winning all five road games during the streak. At 8-3 in away games, they'll look to push it to 10-3 as their final contests this season are away from home.

Toledo plays at a high tempo, leading to the second most points per game in the country, 85.2. They're top-10 nationally in field goal percentage, 49.1%, and three-point percentage, 39.5%. The Rockets are rated 11th in college basketball in adjusted offensive efficiency. They lead the MAC in all of those statistics.

Their defense isn't nearly as dangerous. Opposing teams hit 36.2% of their threes against Toledo, a number that's 319th in the nation. Overall, foes shoot 45.7% against them, which is 300th. They allow 76.3 points per game, which is 333rd nationwide.
