Fading Andrew Nembhard has been on my to-do list since Tyrese Haliburton returned from injury. Even though Haliburton isn’t playing his usual minutes and most likely won’t until after the All-Star Break, he’s eating into Nembhard’s usage. In two of the last three games with Haliburton, Nembhard has logged a usage rate below 10%, including registering fewer than five assists in two. In the previous game, for example, Nembhard had three assists on five opportunities, while Haliburton had 17 assist chances.
Most of the discussion will be about how much extended floor time Nembhard will see with Buddy Hield now shipped out to Philadelphia. On Thursday, without Hield, Nembhard played 25 minutes, around his season average. Tonight, against the New York Knicks, even with the plethora of injuries, I expect them to slow down the Pacers with their league-low pace of play in the last 10 games and limit Nembhard’s assist chances.
