The 2022-23 college hoops season continues Saturday, January 28, with the SEC/Big 12 Challenge from Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, Tennessee, where the Texas Longhorns square off against the Tennessee Volunteers. 

Texas meets Tennessee for the second straight year. Last season, the Longhorns outlasted the Volunteers 52-51 as 4-point home favorites. This time around, the Vols are 8-point home favorites with a total of 137.0 points. The tip-off is set for 6:00 PM ET.

The Texas Longhorns (17-3; 8-12 ATS) have won five of their last six games overall. After stopping a three-game winning streak with a 78-67 defeat at the No. 12 Iowa State, the Longhorns have beaten West Virginia 69-61 and Oklahoma State 89-75. 

Last Tuesday, the Longhorns comfortably covered an 8-point spread against the Cowboys at home. Texas made 50.9% of its field goals against one of the best defensive units in the country. The Longhorns went 8-for-13 from beyond the arc and 23-for-27 from the charity stripe while posting an 18/18 assist-to-turnover ratio. Senior guard Marcus Carr notched 21 points, five assists, and three steals, and senior forward Timmy Allen had 17 points, six rebounds, and three assists.

The Longhorns are No. 10 in the latest AP Top 25 Poll and No. 8 in the NCAA NET Rankings. KenPom has Texas at No. 9, as the Longhorns tally 116.3 points per 100 possessions (12th in the nation) while surrendering 94.2 points in return (26th). They shoot 56.3% from inside the arc (23rd) and 33.4% from beyond the 3-point line (224th).
