It’s a tilt between a pair of Big 12 teams on the hardwood as they collide in search of a victory in the Beehive State. The Texas Longhorns are on the road as they make the trip west to take on the #20 BYU Cougars Saturday afternoon. Texas was victorious in their last game, downing #11 Oklahoma 75-60 on the road Tuesday night, winning outright as a 4.5-point underdog. BYU battled but was defeated 75-68 at home by #4 Houston in their previous game Tuesday night, failing to cover the line as a two-point underdog. In the all-time series between the teams, the Cougars own a 4-2 advantage, including an 86-82 win in the most recent matchup on November 25, 2013 at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

Texas won their second straight game over a ranked foe as they toppled #11 Oklahoma on the road in their previous contest. The Longhorns improved to 14-5 overall and stood tied for seventh in the Big 12 with a 3-3 mark in conference play. Against Oklahoma, Texas jumped in front 7-0 three minutes into the game and by as many as nine midway through the first half only to trail by one at intermission. The Longhorns were tied at 52 with 12:08 to play before going on a 13-2 run that gave them a 65-54 advantage with 8:08 remaining. They didn’t let the Sooners closer than nine the rest of the way en route to the victory. Texas shot an even 50% from the field, including eight of 18 from three-point range, and won the rebounding battle 40-24 in the game. Max Abmas led the Longhorns with 24 points in the win.

On the season, Texas has put up an average of 77.1 points per contest, putting them 105th in the nation in scoring offense on the year. The Longhorns are pulling down an average of 35.7 rebounds per game while dishing out an average of 15.6 assists (54th) per contest. Texas is giving up an average of 67 points per game this season, leaving them 75th in the nation in scoring defense. Max Abmas leads four Longhorns in double figures as he puts up an average of 17.9 points plus 4.4 assists per game this season. The Longhorns are knocking down 7.7 three-pointers a night while sinking 37.8% of their attempts from beyond the arc, which is 25th in the country .
