Once Upon A Time In Las Vegas – Championship Sunday

It is the SEC versus the Big 12 Saturday afternoon as the LSU Tigers host the Texas Tech Red Raiders as part of the Big 12-SEC challenge. The Tigers are 12-8 on the season and 1-7 in the SEC while the Red Raiders are 10-10 overall and 0-8 in the Big 12. These two teams last played in 2021 when Texas Tech emerged victorious. Tipoff is at 2:00 p.m. EST at the Maravich Center in Baton Rouge, La.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders have had a rough season. They are 10-10 overall and are in dead last in the Big 12 at 0-8. They badly need a change of scenery after losing 8 straight, all in the conference. And none of their games have been particularly close since a 72-70 loss at Texas on Jan. 14. Since then they have fallen to Baylor by 7, Kansas State by 10, and most recently, West Virginia by 15 points at home.

In their 76-61 loss at home to West Virginia on Wednesday, the Red Raiders shot only 38% in what was an ugly game. They were 3 of 20 from three point range and were out rebounded by a 41-22 margin. Kevin Obanor led Texas Tech with 20 points while DeVion Harmon added 14 points. Obanor leads the team with 15 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Texas tech is ranked No. 70 in the KenPom power rankings. They are 97th in offensive efficiency and 50th in defensive efficiency.
