Texas Rangers vs. Seattle Mariners Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-27-2022

Texas Rangers (65-87) vs. Seattle Mariners (83-69)

The Texas Rangers and Seattle Mariners open their final three-game series of the season Tuesday, September 27, at T-Mobile Park in Seattle with the first pitch at 9:40 PM ET. Texas shoots for its third straight victory over the Mariners, who have won 17 of their previous 21 encounters with the Rangers.

The Mariners are firm home favorites for Tuesday’s battle. Robbie Ray will toe the rubber for Seattle, and the 2021 AL Cy Young Award winner is 2-0 with a 3.55 ERA in a couple of dates with the Rangers this season.

The Texas Rangers extended their losing streak to three games last Sunday, suffering a heavy 10-4 defeat to the Cleveland Guardians. They got swept at home, and the Rangers have won just two of their last eight games overall while surrendering 40 runs in the process. Texas is 7-16 with a pedestrian 5.00 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, and .267 opposing batting average in September.

The Rangers haven’t announced who’ll get the starting call Tuesday in Seattle. They might opt for a bullpen day or call Dallas Keuchel (2-9; 9.20 ERA) up from the minors. Kohei Arihara is another option, but he was shellacked for 11 earned runs across three innings of work the last time out. The Rangers ‘pen has registered a troublesome 4.93 ERA in the last ten days and 34.2 innings pitched.

On the other side of the ball, Texas is slashing a poor .230/.291/.383 with 26 home runs in 23 games (771 at-bats) in September. Marcus Semien has been terrific as of late, going 20-for-51 with three dingers, six doubles, and a triple in his last 13 games, while Adolis Garcia has 11 hits, five doubles, and a home run across his previous 40 at-bats. The Rangers need more from Corey Seager, who’s posted an awful .209/.258/.374 triple-slash with three homers so far this month.
