Unfortunately, a slow start from the Rangers' bats followed by inconsistent pitching led to the firing of the team's manager and a second division record. The Rangers were able to salvage the final game of their three-game series on Sunday with a 4-1 win behind another strong start from Martin Perez. Perez, one of the team's surprising free-agent success stories this season, improved to 11-6 on the season with a 2.77 ERA.
