Texas salvaged the finale of their three-game interleague set with the Dodgers at home Sunday, winning 8-4. Houston won three of four on the road against Oakland as they took the finale of that series 3-2 Sunday afternoon. Texas bounced back from two straight defeats as they beat the Dodgers in the finale of their three-game interleague set Sunday afternoon at home. The Rangers entered Monday 59-41 on the year and held a three-game advantage over the Astros for the top spot in the AL West. On Sunday, Texas trailed 4-0 after half an inning but blanked Los Angeles the rest of the way to earn the win. Brad Miller (two runs) and Ezequiel Duran (run, RBI) each had two hits to lead a nine-hit Rangers attack in the contest. Martin Perez (8-3) shrugged off a rocky start to earn the win as he threw six innings, allowing four runs on six hits with two walks and six strikeouts, before departing.
The Rangers have announced that they would skip Nathan Eovaldi’s start in this series so it may be Cory Bradford getting the ball for his 11th appearance and sixth start of the season here. He is 2-1 with a 4.78 ERA, a 1.125 WHIP, eight walks and 29 strikeouts over 32 innings of work. Bradford didn’t factor in the decision in his last outing, which came in relief against the Dodgers Friday night. He threw 1.1 innings, allowing one run on one hit with no walks or strikeouts in a game the Rangers dropped 11-5. In his last three outings, all in relief, Bradford is 1-0 with a 6.75 ERA, a 0.94 WHIP, no walks and four strikeouts over 5.1 innings of work. Bradford didn’t factor in the decision in his lone career appearance against the Astros, which came in relief at home on July 3. He threw 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing no hits or walks while striking out four in a game the Rangers dropped 12-11. Bradford, in his 11th career major league appearance and sixth start, pitches at Minute Maid Park for the first time here.
