The Oklahoma State Cowboys take on the Texas A&M Aggies on Wednesday night from NRG Stadium in the Texas Bowl. The Aggies started the season strong but limped to a 7-5 final record. For the Cowboys, a masterclass by the staff put them in the Big 12 title game, as they have a 9-4 record to show for their efforts. The last time these two squared off was back in 2019, in a three-point win for the Aggies. Given the regional rivalry nature of this one, it certainly could go either way, as fans will want to make sure they're in their seats for this one.

It isn't often that a 7-5 team is favored in a bowl game but as the Aggies get ready for the Texas Bowl, they find themselves slight favorites in this one. It has been an up-and-down season for them thus far, though wins in two of their last three helped get them into bowl position. This team was dealt with issues when it came to injuries, as well as their head coach getting fired with just a few games left in the season. This game will be a great opportunity for them to get some momentum into the off-season with the new staff, as well as take down a regional rival. They played Tennessee, Alabama, and Ole Miss, all to within one score games this season and with a little more luck, could've found themselves near the top of the SEC standings. There's clear talent though, as they aim for this neutral-site win.

As mentioned earlier, injuries haven't been the kindest to this team, especially on the offensive end. Conner Weigman (ankle) went down for the season in mid-September, while Max Johnson is questionable at quarterback as well as they head into this one. The Aggies will be down their top receiver in Ainias Smith (finger), while Evan Stewart, the team's second-leading receiver, is questionable as well. With that, the offense could look quite a bit different on Wednesday night.

On the season, they were an average group when it came to move the ball but against an Oklahoma State defense that ranked 124th in total yardage, this would've been a nice matchup. The injuries have cast doubt over how effective they'll even be in this one but look for them to lean on their offensive line and a ground game that is sure to churn out first downs. Oklahoma State’s defense has some glaring holes that the Aggies can exploit, especially given that they’ve had a few weeks to prepare. The offensive line is another advantage though some defections towards the portal on the defensive end could give them some struggles on the other side.
