Tennessee vs. Ole Miss Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 12-28-2022

The Tennessee Volunteers (10-2, 7-5 ATS, 4-8 O/U) battle the Ole Miss Rebels (8-4, 4-6-2 ATS, 6-6 O/U) in an SEC showdown on Wednesday night. The Volunteers logged a blowout home win against Austin Peay last time out. The Rebels clobbered North Alabama in their previous clash. Tennessee posted a 66-60 overtime win against Ole Miss last season.

The Tennessee Volunteers enjoyed an encouraging slate of non-conference games. They have only lost two games all season propelled by the defense The first defeat was against Colorado and the second defeat was a 75-70 loss to a strong Arizona squad earlier this month. Tennessee has earned notable wins against USC, Kansas, and #13 Maryland. The Vols were huge 27.5-point favorites in a dominating 86-44 win against Austin Peay last time out.  They have covered the spread in one out of their last three games.

Santiago Vescovi is having an inconsistent season. The senior guard will take a lot of threes but has shot below 39% in five out of his last six games and is averaging 11.8 PPG on only 34% shooting. Oliver Nkamhoua scored 20 points in the win against Austin Peay. The senior forward has great stats, posting an average of 11.8 PPG on 55% shooting. Tyreke Key has accrued nine or fewer points in t hree straight games. The senior guard has filed an average of 10.7 PPG on 37% shooting.

The Volunteers are ranked 3rd in DI in Ken Pomeroy’s ratings and climbed one spot to #7 in this week’s edition of the AP Top 25 rankings. Tennessee has only played one true road game all year which was the defeat to Arizona earlier this month. The Vols are scoring an average of 74.7 points, ranking them 147th. The defense is elite, limiting opponents to 52.8 points, good for sixth.
