SEC foes meet when the No. 8 Tennessee Volunteers (4-0) and the No. 25 LSU Tigers (4-1) play on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Tiger Stadium.
The Volunteers enter the matchup after winning 38-33 over the Florida Gators in their last outing on September 24. The Tigers’ last game was a 21-17 win over the Auburn Tigers. Hendon Hooker had 349 yards on 22-of-28 passing (78.6%) for the Vols in that matchup against the Gators, with two touchdowns and no interceptions. He also added 13 carries for 112 yards and one rushing touchdown. Jabari Small rushed for 90 yards on 19 carries (4.7 yards per carry) and one touchdown, adding three receptions for 32 yards and one touchdown. Bru McCoy had five receptions for 102 yards (20.4 per catch) and one touchdown against the Gators. Jayden Daniels put up 80 passing yards while going 8-for-20 with no touchdowns and no interceptions for the Tigers against the Tigers. He added 16 carries for 59 yards and one touchdown. In that matchup, Josh Williams had a 17-carry, 68-yard game (4.0 yards per attempt). He tacked on two receptions for zero yards . John Emery Jr. registered 39 yards thro ugh the air after one catch (on two targets), while adding eight carries for 42 yards and one touchdown.
The Volunteers are the favorite (-2.5) in an expected tight game with the Tigers. The total is set at 64 points.
