A pair of programs from the SEC take the floor looking to improve their position in the standings in the Yellowhammer State. Tennessee won their second straight game as they took down Arkansas at home in their previous contest. The Volunteers improved to 22-8 overall and stand tied for third in the SEC with an 11-6 mark in conference play. Against Arkansas, Tennessee scored the game’s first seven points and never trailed in the game. The Volunteers led by nine at the half and didn’t let the Razorbacks closer than seven the rest of the way as they pulled away down the stretch. Tennessee shot an even 50% from the floor, including four of 16 from three-point range, and held Arkansas to 36.7% from the field. Olivier Nkamhoua led the Volunteers with 16 points in the victory, though it came with a price. Zakai Zeigler suffered a torn ACL in the game and was lost for the season.

The Volunteers put up 71.9 points per game on the season, leaving them 176th in the nation in scoring offense. Tennessee pulls down 39.1 rebounds a night (18th) while dishing out 17.1 assists (10th) per game. The Volunteers are excellent on the defensive end, ranking 3rd in the country by allowing 56.7 points per game. Santiago Vescovi is one of three players on the team averaging in double figures with 12.4 points plus 4.6 rebounds a night this season. Tyreke Key (8.1 points, 2.6 rebounds) and Zakai Ziegler (10.7 points, 2.7 boards, 5.4 assists) are good options offensively as well. Olivier Nkamhoua (10.7 points, 5.1 boards), Josiah-Jordan James (10.1 points, 4.9 rebounds), Julian Phillips (nine points, 4.8 rebounds), Jahmai Mashack, Jonas Aidoo and Tobe Awaka have to step up and help out on both ends of the floor for coach Rick Barnes. Tennessee shoots 43.4% from the field as a team this season. The Volunteers knock down 7.6 triples a night while shooting 32.3% from beyond the arc. Tennessee knocks down 71.1% of their attempts at the charity stripe this season, which puts them in the middle of the pack.

Zeigler (knee) is done for the year after the injury sustained against Arkansas back on February 28. Key (ankle) has missed the last two games and is questionable here. Watch for updates on his status leading to tip-off.
