The Temple Owls take their 2-3 record on the road a they travel to the land of Mickey Mouse to take on the 4-1 University of Central Florida in Orlando on Thursday night. Temple comes off a 24-3 loss on Saturday to the Memphis Tigers in Memphis. The UCF Knights won their third straight on Saturday with a 41-19 win over SMU at home. The Temple Owls hit the road again on Thursday night, looking to earn their first road win of the season against the UCF Knights on Thursday night. The Owls are currently 0-2 on the road and just 2-3 overall this season including 0-1 in the AAC. On Saturday, the Owls fell at Memphis 24-3. After scoring the first points of the game on a field goal and ending the first half with a 3-0 lead, the Owls were outscored 24-0 for the remainder of the game to take the loss.

Mistakes and missed opportunities doomed the Owls against Memphis. In the first quarter, Temple was turned away at the goal line after three straight incompletions. Temple starting quarterback E.J. Warner went just 18-of-37 from 245 yards and threw three interceptions in the loss. Temple compiled 297 total yards and just seven first downs in the loss. The Owls rushed for 52 yards on the day.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Owls allowed 305 total yards including 136 on the ground. The defense was solid well into the third quarter, shutting out the Tigers. In the third quarter, Temple turned away Memphis on 4th and one in the red zone to keep them scoreless. After shutting out UMass the week before, the Owls defense kept their opponents scoreless for 118 minutes and 19 seconds of game time before finally surrendering a touchdown midway through the third quarter. They had five sacks and nine tackles for loss in the game.

The Temple Owls come into this matchup with one of the worst offenses in college football. Temple ranks dead last in points per game at just over 11 points per game. On the ground, the Owls are 127th in college football and 103rd passing. They are ranked just 129th in turnover differential and they are 128th in red zone efficiency. The Owls defense has had to make up for a deficient offense this season and they've done their best to hold up their end of the bargain. Temple ranks 15th in the country in scoring defense through five games. They are 78th against the run and an impressive 7th against the pass thus far this season. The Owls are also 8th in red zone defense and are ranked 39th in penalties.
