The Temple Owls come into South Florida with a two-game winning streak and an unblemished conference record. On New Year's Day, Temple won their second straight with a 70-61 win over Cincinnati at home. Five Temple players scored in double figures in the win. Jahlil White led the way with a double-double, 14 points and a career-high 16 rebounds. Khalif Battle also finished with 14 point, scoring 13 of those points in the second half as the Owls were able to fend off the Bearcats. Temple dominated the boards with a 46-28 advantage on the glass. The Owls' defense also held Cincinnati to just 38% shooting from the field.

Temple comes into this matchup looking to improve to 3-0 in the conference which would be their first 3-0 mark to start AAC play in nearly a decade. Temple comes in with the 212th ranked scoring offense in the nation. Temple is ranked 175th in 3pt shooting. On the defensive end, Temple is ranked 135th in scoring defense and are ranked 120th in the nation in 3pt defense. Temple has been more than competent on the glass, as evidenced by their domination of Cincinnati, and are ranked 168th in the country in rebounding. The Owls are a bit sloppy with the basketball, however, ranking just 242nd in the country in turnovers per game.
