Temple vs. Navy Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-29-2022

A pair of teams on losing skids will square off on Saturday afternoon when Navy hosts Temple. The Owls are on a three-game losing streak following a 27-16 loss to Tulsa last week. Navy has lost consecutive games, including a 38-20 setback against Houston its last time out.

Temple will be looking for its first win over a legitimate opponent this season on Saturday afternoon. The Owls picked up wins over Lafayette and UMass in September, but they have lost three consecutive games since then. They lost to Memphis, Central Florida and Tulsa by double digits, including a 70-13 blowout against UCF. Temple was slightly more competitive against Tulsa last week, but it still wound up falling in a 27-16 final. The Owls have now scored more than 30 points in a game this season, and they have not scored more than 14 points against anyone other than Lafayette and UMass.

This was always going to be a rebuilding year for Temple, which is playing under first-year head coach Stan Drayton and freshman quarterback E.J. Warner. The Owls could be facing some more personnel issues on Saturday, as senior wide receiver Adonicas Sanders missed the second half of last week’s game due to an injury. Running back Jakari Norwood is away from the team for personal reasons and does not have an expected date of return. Warner has completed just 54.2% of his passes for 1,236 yards this season, and he has a disappointing TD-INT ratio of 7-7. Sophomore running back Edward Saydee has rushed for a team-high 229 yards and one touchdown on 71 carries, averaging 3.2 yards per attempt. Senior wide receiver Jose Barbon has hauled in 34 receptions for 476 yards and a touchdown.
