TCU vs. Baylor Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 1-4-2023

No. 17 TCU will try to extend one of the nation’s longest winning streaks when it travels to No. 19 Baylor on Wednesday night. The Horned Frogs have rattled off 10 consecutive games following a loss to Northwestern State in mid-November, with their most recent win coming against Texas Tech on Saturday. Baylor had its five-game winning streak snapped in a 15-point loss at Iowa State on New Year’s Eve.

TCU suffered one of its most disappointing losses in school history when it fell to Northwestern State as a 21.5-point favorite in mid-November, blowing a 12-point lead in that outing. The Horned Frogs have responded by rattling off 10 consecutive wins after that, including wins against then-No. 25 Iowa, SMU, Utah and Texas Tech. Their win over the Red Raiders on Saturday marked their first conference game of the season, as they pushed the 6-point spread in a 67-61 final. Mike Miles Jr. scored 23 points for TCU, including seven points during a decisive run late in the game. This is the team’s longest winning streak since it won 12 straight to open the 2017-18 campaign.

The Horned Frogs trailed Texas Tech by 11 points at halftime before scoring the first 10 points of the second half to get back on track. They forced the Red Raiders into a season-high 23 turnovers, eight of which came during a six-minute stretch late in the second half. TCU’s defense has been its calling card this season, but its offense has some nice qualities as well. The Horned Frogs are No. 33 nationally in turnover rate and No. 17 in offensive rebounding percentage. Their outside shooting has been their biggest disappointment, as they are knocking down just 29.2% of their 3-pointers. They are facing a Baylor defense that is No. 23 in turnover rate and No. 44 in KenPom’s adjusted efficiency ratings.
