The TCU Horned Frogs and Colorado Buffaloes face off in Week 1 college football showdown at Folsom Field.
TCU has gone through a ton of changes the last few seasons and now the biggest one is with the coach. Gary Patterson isn’t with the program anymore, and they have brought in Sonny Dykes to try and fill his shoes. Heading into this season there are a ton of questions, but the biggest one that needs to be answered right now is who will be under center for the offense. Senior Max Duggan is back and it seems most logical that he will get the start. Chandler Morris impressed last season in limited action and he could be the guy called upon. Redshift freshman Sam Jackson is also on the roster, and Dykes has said he expected to use all three guys this season. It’s unclear if that means in this game, but it wouldn’t be all that shocking if they all played. On defense the Horned Frogs are young, and creating a turnover or two will be key in this game.
On the other side of this matchup is Colorado who hopes their rebuild is done soon, but this year could be one with some growing pains. Last season the Buffaloes' offense really struggled to score, and they made some changes this offseason including bringing in former Minnesota offensive coordinator Mike Sanford. Brendon Lewis started last year but he’s battling this year with JT Shrout for the starting quarterback job. Both guys are expected to play in this game. Last season Colorado averaged only 257.6 yards per game, and this year, that will need to be better.
