The 2023 Major League Baseball season goes on Monday, August 14, with the Tampa Bay Rays taking on the San Francisco Giants in the interleague battle at Oracle Park in San Francisco, California, and the first pitch is set for 9:45 PM ET.  

Tampa Bay and San Francisco open a three-game series. They lock horns for the first time since 2019 when the Rays took two out of three games from the Giants in San Francisco.  

Sunday’s games have been excluded from the analysis, and the 71-48 Tampa Bay Rays hosted the Cleveland Guardians, looking to sweep a three-game series. The Rays have won eight of their previous 12 games overall and were sitting at the second spot in the AL East on Sunday, trailing the Baltimore Orioles by two games. 

Tampa Bay is slashing a solid .260/.328/.444 with 18 extra-base hits and 19 home runs in the last couple of weeks and 419 at-bats. Wander Franco has slugged five homers over his last 12 games, while Yandi Diaz has gone 20-for-51 with five doubles and two dingers in his previous 12 contests. 

Tyler Glasnow is projected to get the starting call Monday in San Francisco. The 29-year-old right-hander is 5-3 wi th a strong 3.15 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and 96/22 K/BB ratio in 12 starts (68.2 innings pitched) in 2023. Glasnow was terrific in July, yielding just 11 runs (nine earned) on 26 hits and eight walks across 38.1 innings of work. He hasn’t pitched since July 31 due to back spasms.
