The Rays are third in the AL East trailing the Yankees by 12 games. If the season ended today, Tama Bay would reach the postseason as they sit in the second wild-card spot, but it's tight with the Mariners, Orioles, Guardians, and White Sox all close behind.

The Rays are scheduled to start southpaw Jeffrey Springs (4-3, 2.50 ERA) on Wednesday. Springs is 3-1 with a 2.68 ERA in 11 road appearances including eight starts. He allowed four hits and two unearned runs in a 6-2 win against the Tigers on Thursday.
