Tampa Bay split a four-game home series with the lowly Royals as they won the finale of the set 3-1 Sunday afternoon. Arizona avoided a sweep on the road by the Giants as they won the series finale 5-2 Sunday afternoon. In the most recent series between the teams, the Rays took two of three at home in Tropicana Field back between May 6-8, 2019.

Tampa Bay won the finale of a four-game series at home with the Royals as they managed to earn a split of the set against the worst team in the American League. The Rays entered Monday 54-27 on the season and held a 4.5-game advantage over the Orioles for the top spot in the AL East. On Sunday, Tampa Bay finished with seven hits as Yandy Diaz (run) had four of them. Jose Siri (his 14th) homered in the contest for the Rays to help spark the offense. Tyler Glasnow didn’t factor in the decision as he threw five innings, allowing one run on four hits with one walk and 12 strikeouts. Colin Poche (5-2) earned the win with a scoreless seventh inning, allowing no hits with one walk and two strikeouts. Pete Fairbanks worked a scoreless ninth, allowing no hits with one walk and one strikeout, for his eighth save.

Taj Bradley is on the bump for the Rays in the series opener as he makes his 11 th start of the year in this contest. He comes in 5-3 with a 3.86 ERA, a 1.204 WHIP, 15 walks and 71 strikeouts over 49 innings of work this season. Bradley earned the win in his last start, which came Wednesday at home against the Orioles. He threw six innings, allowing one run on three hits with no walks and eight strikeouts in a game the Rays won by a 7-2 score. In his last three starts, Bradley is 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA, a 1.29 WHIP, seven walks and 23 strikeouts over 14 innings of work. Bradley, in his 11th career major league start, pitches against the Diamondbacks for the first time. As a result, this marks his first career start at Chase Field. Bradley was 1-3 with an 11.25 ERA, a 1.813 WHIP, nine walks and 13 strikeouts over 16 innings in five starts with Triple-A Durham of the International League prior to being plugged into the Rays’ rotation.
