Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Winnipeg Jets Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 1-6-2023

The Tampa Bay Lightning face the Winnipeg Jets with both teams looking to build off of excellent seasons. The Lightning have a 24-12-1 record and with seven wins in their last 10 games have leaped into third place in the Atlantic Division. The Jets have a 241-3-1 record and with a three-game winning streak have jumped to first place in the Central Division. Both teams are looking to remain near the top of their divisions and the upcoming game looks to be a great one as a result.

The Lightning are having a great season with their offense looking like one of the best in the NHL, scoring 3.51 goals per game. Nikita Kucherov, Steven Stamkos, and Brayden Point have scored 52 goals and 83 assists to lead the top two lines but the entire offense has stepped up. Brandon Hagel, Alex Killorn, and Nick Paul have combined for 41 goals and 38 assists while defensemen Victor Hedman and Mikhail Sergachev have added seven goals and 47 assists from the point to put the offense over the top.

The offense has been great but the defense has also stepped up recently, allowing only 2.89 goals per game with only 11 goals in the last five games. Victor Hedman and Ian Cole have combined for 4.5 defensive point shares and 125 blocked shots while Mikhail Sergachev, Nicklaus Perbix, and Erik Cernak have combined for 4.6 defensive point shares to add depth to the unit. Additionally, goaltender Andrei Va silevskiy is having a great year with a .921 save percentage and a 2.42 goals-against average on 799 shots.
