Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Ottawa Senators Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 3-23-2023

The Tampa Bay Lightning face the Ottawa Senators with both teams looking to improve in the Atlantic Division. The Lightning have a 42-24-6 record and are in third place in the Atlantic Division but hope to rebound from back-to-back losses. The Senators have a 34-32-5 record but with only three wins in their last 10 games have fallen out of the wild card race in the Eastern Conference. Both teams look to improve in the division and the playoff race and the upcoming game should be a great one as a result.

The Lightning are having a great season with their offense leading the way, scoring 3.43 goals per game with 17 goals in the last five games. Nikita Kucherov, Brayden Point, and Steven Stamkos have scored 102 goals and 152 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has stepped up as well. Brandon Hagel, Nick Paul, and Alex Killorn have combined for 66 goals and 79 assists while defensemen Victor Hedman and Mikhail Sergachev have added 14 goals and 84 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has struggled, allowing 3.04 goals per game including eight goals in the last two games. Hedman and Sergachev have combined for 8.2 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. The bright spot has been the play of goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy who has a .913 save per centage and a 2.70 goals-against average on 1680 shots with 14.7 goals saved above average.
