The Tampa Bay Lightning face the Ottawa Senators with both teams looking to improve on rough starts to the season. The Lightning have a 4-3-3 record and are near the bottom of the Atlantic Division. The Senators have a 4-5 record and with three losses in their last four games, they have fallen to last place in the Atlantic Division. The Lightning are off to a rough start despite their offense stepping up and scoring 3.40 goals per game with 14 goals in the last four games. The offense has stepped up but the defense has let the Lightning down, allowing 3.20 goals per game including eight goals in the last two games. Victor Hedman and Nicklaus Perbix have combined for 1.1 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net with ease. The bright spot has been the play of goaltender Jonas Johansson w ho has a .922 save percentage and a 2.73 goals-against average on 282 shots with 4.4 goals saved above average.
