The Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday, 7-4. That made the club 2-2-0 through the first four games of their five-game road trip. The Lightning are 6-9-2 on the road this season and are in fifth place in the Atlantic Division.

Steven Stamkos led the way in the victory, scoring four goals. This helped Tampa Bay snap the Oilers eight-game winning streak. Tampa Bay scored the only two goals of the first period, but Edmonton responded with three in the second to take the lead. That is when Stamkos took over, scoring three of his four goals in the final frame. Andrei Vasilevskiy was pelted in the contest, stopping 53 of 57 shots.

The Lightning are 11th in goals per game (3.32) but have really struggled on the other end of the rink, allowing 3.55 goals per game (29th). Tampa Bay has the third-best power play in the NHL (29.4%). Vasilevskiy is playing well (5-4-0, 2.89, .902) but the backups have struggled. Nikita Kucherov is off to a hot start, becoming the first player in the NHL to reach 50 points this season. He has 20 goals and 30 assists through the first 30 games.
