The 2022-23 NCAA men’s basketball schedule continues on Saturday as the Syracuse Orangemen travel to take on the Virginia Tech Hokies at Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg, Virginia at 7:00 p.m. ET. 

Syracuse comes in as losers of two of their last three games after falling to North Carolina on Tuesday, 72-68. Virginia Tech snapped a seven-game losing streak when they defeated Duke on Monday, 78-75. No line or total was set at the time this analysis was written. The Orangemen defeated Virginia Tech at home on January 11, 82-72. The home team has won the last three meetings between these clubs and eight of the last 10 overall.

The Syracuse Orangemen (13-8, 12-9-0 ATS) fell behind by four points at the half and were not able to overcome as they fell to North Carolina, 72-68. Syracuse had a great night shooting, hitting 29 of their 58 shots, but went to the free-throw line just three times in the contest. Meanwhile, the Tar Heels had 23 free-throw attempts, hitting 14 of them which proved to be the difference.

Syracuse was able to battle and tie the game three times, and there were six lead changes in the contest. Three different players scored in double digits, led by Joseph Girard who had 18 points and five assists. Judah Mintz chipped in 17 and Chris Bell had 15 points.

Girard has been outstanding this season, averaging 17.5 points per game and is hitting 41.4% of his shots. Jesse Edwards is averaging a double-double (13.6 ppg, 10.6 rpg). They are helping the Orangemen to 99th in points per game (75.2) and 57th in field-goal percentage (46.9%). While Syracuse is allowing 70 points per game, 205th overall, their 59th in opponent field-goal percentage (41.1%).
