Syracuse at Virginia – 1/7/23 College Basketball Picks and Prediction

The Syracuse Orange will head down to Charlottesville to take on the Virginia Cavaliers in ACC action from the John Paul Jones Arena on the ACC Network. Virginia leads the all-time series 11-6 after winning seven of the last eight meetings.

Syracuse moved to 10-5 after defeating Louisville on the road. The Orange found themselves on the brink of an upset after trailing the Cardinals throughout the contest, but they rallied late and escaped with a one-point victory. Syracuse is scoring 75.2 points per game, while allowing 69.1  ppg, and shooting 46.1% from the field.

Syracuse responded to a late November three-game skid by winning seven of their last eight games. Joe Girard III is thriving in the captain role this season, and after saving the day with a season-high 28 points in the win over Louisville, he leads the Orange in scoring at 16.7 ppg. Judah Mintz (15.8 ppg, 4.2 apg) has been sharp alongside him in the backcourt, double-doubling in the win over former Big East rival Georgetown and scoring 24 in the ACC opener versus Pitt. Jesse Edwards sets a tone in the paint, and he’s one of the top rebounders in the country at 10.9 rpg, while scoring 13.9 ppg.
