Stony Brook (8-7 SU, 8-4-2 ATS) travels to Baltimore County to take on Towson (8-7 SU, 6-8 ATS) on Thursday night at 7pmET from TU Arena in CAA action.

Stony Brook is 1-1 in the CAA after beating Northeastern on the road on Jan. 4, 62-53. On Saturday, they were back home to meet Charleston and lost the game 93-87. However, the Seawolves gave the Cougars all they could handle. The game featured 17 lead changes and seven ties. Stony Brook led by as many as 15 points late in the first half. Tyler Stephenson-Moore and Aaron Clarke led the Seawolves with 21 points apiece. Stony Brook shot 56% from the field, but also allowed the Cougars to shoot 56% from the field and 45% (13-of-29) from long range.  According to KenPom, Stony Brook is ranked 235th and has a strength of schedule of 180.

Stony Brook is led by Stephenson-Moore, a 6-3, 195-pound grad student, who averages 15.5 points and 3.6 rebounds on 47% shooting (44% 3pt). Clarke, a 6-1 grad student from Sacred Heart, adds 12.9 points and 2.3 assists on 38.4% shooting (34.3% 3pt). The good news is that Sabry Phillip, who missed last season due to an Achilles' injury, is expected back for the Towson game. The 6-4, 205-pound grad student from Canada, started his career at at San Diego and played sparingly, but could help the team off the bench.

For the Seawolves to get to that next level and compete with the top teams in the CAA, they have to improve on the defensive end. They are allowing 73.1 points per game on 44% shooting (239th) and 36.8% (339th) from long range. They also have issues rebounding as they rank 252nd with a -0.8 rebounding margin. Offensively, they average 71.9 points per game on 42.4% shooting (290th), but they are strong from three-point range ( 35.2%), where they rank 115th.
