The Atlantic Ten Tournament semifinals kick off on Saturday afternoon at the Barclay's Center when the fourth-seeded Saint Louis Billikens square off against the first-seeded VCU Rams. Saint Louis reached the semifinals following a blowout win over George Mason on Thursday night. VCU earned its way into the semifinals after dispatching Davidson on Thursday. The Saint Louis Billikens improved to 21-11 on the season with a quarterfinal win over George Mason 82-54 on Thursday. Gibson Jimerson led the way with 21 points, shooting 8-of-13 from the field and drilling 2-of-5 from long range. The Billikens shot 55% from the field in the game and the starting five hit on 40% of its three-point attempts. The Saint Louis defense held George Mason to just 36% from the field in the win.

Saint Louis is now ten games over .500 on the season and one step closer to earning the coveted automatic NCAA Tournament bid with a conference title. Standing in the Billikens' way, however, is the top-seeded VCU Rams. On the season, the Billikens went 0-2 vs. VCU. They shot a combined 44% in the two games and lost by an average of 10 points in the two games. Fouling was the biggest issue for Saint Louis in the two games. In the first game, VCU shot 18 free throws compared with just eight for the Billikens. In the second game, Saint Louis took just 14 free throws compared with 26 for VCU. Jimerson led Saint Louis with 15 points per game in the two games.
