St. Louis Cardinals vs. Milwaukee Brewers Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-28-2022

The St. Louis Cardinals (89-65, 84-70 RL, 73-76-5 O/U) take on the Milwaukee Brewers (82-71, 65-87 RL, 72-69-11 O/U) in the two-game series finale on Wednesday afternoon. The Cardinals will send Jose Quintana to the mound. The Brewers will answer with Brandon Woodruff. The Cardinals lead the season series 9-8.

Jose Quintana will get the nod on Wednesday. Quintana was fantastic in his previous start, tossing six shutout innings against the Dodgers, and earned the win to even his record to 6-6. The veteran southpaw continues to dazzle, registering a 0.71 ERA this month and has improved his season ERA to 3.03 along with a 1.22 WHIP in 157.2 innings pitched. Quintana has conceded five runs in 9.1 innings against the Brewers this season and is 9-4 with a 2.95 ERA in 116 career innings.

The Cardinals are concluding a long eight-game road trip. They are 2-4 through the first six games entering Tuesday night. They lost two of three against the Dodgers last weekend but are going to win NL Central. They are 6.5 games ahead of Milwaukee and stand at 5-5 in their last ten games.

Nolan Arenado is usually productive against the Brewers, clubbing four homers with 10 RBIs against the foes this season. The 31-year-old slugger has reached 100 RBIs for the third straight year to go with a strong .898 OPS. Arenado has 11 RBIs and a .650 OPS this month.

The Cardinals are scoring an average of 4.75 runs per game, ranking them fifth overall. The pitching staff has filed a 3.76 team ERA, good for ninth in the big leagues.
