St. Louis took the rubber game of their home series with the Yankees Sunday afternoon to head into the final week of the first half of the season with at least a little momentum. The Cardinals entered Monday last in the NL Central with a 35-48 record, leaving them 9.5 games behind the Brewers and Reds for the top spot. On Sunday, St. Louis rapped out 11 hits with Brendan Donovan (run, two RBI) picking up three while Nolan Arenado (run) added a pair in the win. Donovan hit his ninth homer of the season in the victory for the Cardinals. Jordan Montgomery (6-7) earned the win as he threw 6.2 innings, allowing one run (none earned) on two hits with three walks and six strikeouts before turning things over to the bullpen.

Adam Wainwright is on the mound for the Cardinals as he makes his 11th start of the season in this contest.
