The St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates face off on Wednesday in an MLB showdown at PNC Park. On Tuesday it was the Cardinals that were able to secure the 8-7 victory. It was four runs in the 7th inning that even allowed them to force extra innings.

The Cardinals are averaging 4.78 runs per game which is 5th best in the league. The pitching is also 8th, and it’s going to be very important they get good pitching in the playoffs. On the other side of this matchup is the Pirates who sit with a 61-100 record overall and it’s been another disappointing season for this team. The Pirates offense is ranked 27th in the league and the pitching is ranked 28th. On Tuesday the Pirates pitching again really struggled, and that will need to be improved upon during the off-season. Bryan Reynolds has hit 27 home runs and driven in 62 RBIs.
