A pair of Central Division teams clash on the ice north of the border as part of the NHL’s Frozen Frenzy looking to pick up two points. The St. Louis Blues are on the road as they make the trip north to take on the Winnipeg Jets Tuesday night. St. Louis comes in off a 4-2 home win over Pittsburgh in their previous contest Saturday night. Winnipeg rallied to down Edmonton 3-2 in overtime on the road Saturday night in their most recent action. In the last 10 meetings between the teams, the Jets own an 8-1-1 advantage but it was the Blues recording a 3-0 victory on home ice in the most recent matchup on March 19.

St. Louis bounced back from a shellacking by Arizona at home by doubling up Pittsburgh in their most recent contest Saturday night. The Blues entered Monday 2-1-1 on the season and stood tied for fifth in the Central Division, five points behind the Avalanche for the top spot in the division. St. Louis is 29th in the league in goals for as they average two goals a contest this season. The Blues stand tied for 7th in the league in goals against as they allow an average of 2.50 goals a night. St. Louis is tied for 31st in power play success as they cash in on 0% of their chances with the man advantage this season. The Blues are 32nd in penalty killing as they successfully navigate 63.6% of their shorthanded situations this year.

Against Pittsburgh, St. Louis finally got some offensive production and that helped them put one in the win column Saturday night. The Blues were outshot 11-8 in the opening period of play and skated to the dressing room even at one after 20 minutes of play. Brandon Saad opened the scoring with his first goal of the season at 9:33 off assists from Robert Thomas and Jordan Kyrou. The Blues gave up the equalizer in the final seconds of the period to even the score. In the second period, St. Louis was outshot 12-9 but outscored Pittsburgh 2-0 to take a 3-1 lead at the second intermission. Jake Neighbours gave the Blues a 2-1 lead with his first goal of the year at 5:39 with assists going to Kasperi Kapanen and Justin Faulk. Later in the stanza, Colton Parayko made it a 3-1 game with his first of the year at 7:12 off assists from Alexey Toropchenko and Oskar Sundqvist. In the third period, St. Louis was outshot 10-4 with each team scoring once, leaving the Blues ahead as time expired. Saad extended to a 4-1 Blues lead with his second of the game and the season at 15:13 off assists from Kapanen and Thomas. The Blues gave up a goal 1:14 later but held on for the victory. Jordan Binnington made 31 saves for the Blues, who were outshot 33-21, in the victory. He is slated to be between the pipes for this contest as well.
