The St. Louis Blues face the Minnesota Wild with both teams heading in opposite directions early on this season. The Blues have an 11-8-1 record and with three wins in their last four games, they have the fourth-best record in the Central Division. The Wild have a 5-10-4 record and with only two wins in their last 10 games, they have the second-worst record in the Central Division. Both teams are looking to improve in the division and the Western Conference and the upcoming game should be a good one.

The Blues are having a rough season with their offense struggling and scoring only 2.95 goals per game. Robert Thomas, Pavel Buchnevich, and Jordan Kyrou have scored 20 goals and 31 assists but the rest of the offense has struggled. Only four skaters have five goals or more and opponents can limit the top-heavy offense as a result.

The offense has struggled but the defense has also been a disappointment, allowing 3.05 goals per game. Justin Faulk and Torey Krug have combined for 2.2 defensive point shares but the rest of the defensive unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. The bright spot has been the play of goaltender Jordan Binnington who has a .909 save percentage and a 2.89 goals-against average on 440 shots with 3.1 goals saved above average.
