St. Louis Blues vs. Detroit Red Wings Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 3-23-2023

The St. Louis Blues face the Detroit Red Wings with both teams looking to improve on rough seasons. The Blues have a 31-33-6 record and are in sixth place in the Central Division while the Red Wings have a 31-30-9 record and with only three wins in their last 10 games have the second-worst record in the Atlantic Division. Both teams are looking to improve in the standings and make a late-season push for the playoffs and the upcoming game should be a good one.

The Blues are having a rough season despite their offense stepping up and scoring 3.10 goals per game. Jordan Kyrou and Pavel Buchnevich have scored 54 goals and 73 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has stepped up as well. Robert Thomas, Brayden Schenn, and Brandon Saad have combined for 51 goals and 90 assists while defensemen Justin Faulk and Torey Krug have added 14 goals and 49 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has been awful, allowing 3.61 goals per game. Justin Faulk and Nick Leddy have combined for 5.2 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. In addition, goaltender Jordan Binnington has been great with a .892 save percentage and a 3.39 goals-against average on 1565 shots with -19.3 goals saved above average.
