The Saint Joseph’s Hawks are on the road as they make the crosstown trip to take on the #18 Villanova Wildcats Wednesday night. Saint Joseph’s comes in off a 64-55 home win over Sacred Heart in their previous contest Sunday afternoon, though they failed to cover the line as a 10.5-point favorite. Villanova rolled to a 79-63 win over Memphis in the championship game of the Battle 4 Atlantis in their previous game Friday. In the all-time series between the teams, the Wildcats own a 43-24 advantage and have taken the last 10 meetings. That includes a 71-64 road win in the most recent matchup on December 17, 2022, though they failed to cover the line as a 12-point favorite.

Saint Joseph’s snapped a two-game slide as they took down Sacred Heart at home Sunday in their previous contest. The Hawks improved to 4-2 on the season and look to take down one of their Big Five rivals by prevailing here. Against Sacred Heart, Saint Joseph’s jumped in front 10-0 less than 2 ½ minutes into the game, saw the Pioneers reel off nine straight to make it a one-point game, and then scored seven straight of their own to go in front by eight. The Hawks never let the Pioneers closer than three after that while leading by as many as 17 in the second half. Saint Joseph’s shot 44.2% from the floor, including 11 of 33 from three-point range, and held Sacred Heart to 34.5% shooting to offset turning the ball over 21 times. Cameron Brown led the Hawks with 16 points, five rebounds and four steals in the win.
