St. John's at Seton Hall – 12/31/22 College Basketball Picks and Prediction

The St. John’s Red Storm will cross the water and head to Newark to meet the Seton Hall Pirates in Big East action. The Seton Hall/St. John’s series dates back to 1909, and the Red Storm hold an all-time lead of 62-46.

St. John’s dropped to 11-3 after falling to Xavier in Queens. The Red Storm’s hot start is slowly evaporating after dropping their second straight to open Big East play. St. John’s scores 79.5 points per game, while allowing 69.5 ppg, and shooting 45.9% from the floor.

St. John’s has a pretty solid starting lineup led by veteran big Joel Soriano’s ability to dictate the game from the inside. The Yonkers product has been able to control the glass on both sides, grabbing 12 or more rebounds in eight of the last nine games, and he scored a season-high 23 points in the win over FSU. Soriano leads SJU in scoring (15.3) and rebounding (12.3). David Jones has come over from DePaul and helped ease the void on the wing left by Julian Champagne. The 6’6 forward double-double last time over versus Xavier, and he’s second on the team in scoring and rebounding at 14.9 ppg and 7.6 rpg. Illinois transfer Andre Durbelo (10.4 ppg, 5.1 apg) scored 20 points in the win over in-state foe Syracuse at the Barclays.
