St. John's at Providence – 1/7/23 College Basketball Picks and Prediction

The St. John’s Red Storm will travel and take on the Providence Friars in Big East play from the Amica Pavilion on FS1. Providence and St. John’s have faced off in a back-and-forth series that dates back to 1958. The Friars hold the head-to-head lead by a tight margin of 51-50! after winning both meetings last year.

St. John’s dropped to 11-5 after falling to Marquette in Queens. The Red Storm’s hot start has disappeared with Big East play fully underway, as they’d suffer their fourth straight loss to Golden Eagles, 96-85. St. John’s scores 79.2 points per game, while allowing 72.3 ppg, and shooting 45.9% from the floor.

St. John’s has hit a wall with the start of Big East play, and they’ll face an uphill battle here. The Red Storm are led by veteran big Joel Soriano in the middle. The Yonkers product has done his part, posting three 20-point double-doubles in three of the last five games, and he leads SJU in scoring (16.2) and rebounding (12.3). DePaul transfer David Jones double-doubled against Xavier, and he’s second on the team with 14.6 ppg and 7.6 rpg. L
