St. John's at Butler Prediction – Basketball Picks 2/7/23

The St. John’s Red Storm will fly to Indianapolis to face the Butler Bulldogs in Big East play from the Hinkle Fieldhouse. Butler and St. John’s have faced off 20 times, with both schools winning 10 times. The Red Storm have won the last three meetings, including a 16-point win in Queens last month.

St. John’s dropped to 14-10 after losing to Xavier in Cincinnati. The Red Storm were blitzed by the Musketeers in the first half, and ended up losing by 25 points. St. John’s scores 77.1 points per game, while allowing 74.5 ppg, and shooting 45.3% from the floor. 

St. John’s has played themselves onto the outside of the bubble, and they might not be able to stop the bleeding in Indy this Tuesday. The Red Storm are 4-9 in Big East play, with a 1-6 road record. St. John’s plays through veteran center Joel Soriano, and after a pair of quiet outings against Seton Hall and Xavier, he’ll look to bounce back against a vulnerable Butler defense.  in the middle. Soriano leads SJU in scoring (15.5) and rebounding (12.1). DePaul transfer David Jones is second on the team in scoring and rebounding, but after missing last weekend’s contest, his status will need to be monitored here. Former Illinois guard Andre Curbelo leads the team in assists (4.5), while scoring 9.8 ppg.
