Southern Miss at Texas State Prediction – Basketball Picks 2/24/23

The Southern Miss Golden Eagles will head down to San Marcos to take on the Texas State Bobcats in Sun Belt play from the Strahan Coliseum. Southern Miss won the lone meeting last month, 67-58.

Southern Miss fell to 24-6 after losing to Old Dominion in Norfolk. The Golden Eagles trailed the Monarchs throughout the contest, and ended up falling by five points, 69-64. USM is scoring 75.4 points per game, while allowing 64.9 ppg, and shooting 46.1% from the floor.

Southern Mississippi has hit their stride, and they’ll look to bounce back by completing the sweep over the Bobcats here. The Golden Eagles are 13-4 Sun Belt play, with a 7-6 record on the road. Southern Miss has been powered by a mainstay and a pair of transfer portal signees in Felipe Haase (Mercer) and Austin Crowley (Ole Miss). Crowley, 6’4 guard, paced the team with 24 points in the first meeting with Texas State, and he leads USM in scoring at 16.2 ppg. Haase, a 6’9 forward, scored 16 points in the first win over Troy, and he’s second on the team in scoring (14.8) and rebounding (6.2). Three-year starter Deandre Pinckney scored a season-high 28 points in the win over JMU, and he leads the team in rebounding (6.8), while scoring 13.5 ppg.
