Southern Illinois won their fourth straight game and improved to 3-2 on the road with a 70-68 win over Southeast Missouri last Wednesday night. The Salukis had to hang on as Southeast Missouri drilled three 3pt field goals in the game's final 90 seconds. The Salukis were able to convert six free throws down the stretch to hang on for the win. Marcus Domask led the way with 24 points. Lance Jones chipped in with 14 points, including 2-of-6 from long range. Southern Illinois rallied back from an early double-digit deficit and took control of the game after holding Southeast Missouri to just four points over the final eight minutes of the first half.

“We knew it was going to be a grind-it-out game. I thought after the first 10 minutes of the first half we played pretty good basketball up until the last two minutes of the game,” head coach Bryan Mullins said postgame. “We have to do a better job executing at the end o f the game, but our goal was to come here and get a win before Christmas and we were able to accomplish that.”

The Salukis are scoring nearly 69 points per game while shooting 47% from the field overall. They are holding the opposition to just 62 points per game and 42% from the field.
