The Southern Illinois Salukis will head up to Des Moines to face to Drake Bulldogs in Missouri Valley Conference play from the Knapp Center on ESPNU. Southern Illinois leads the all-time series, 61-40, after winning the most recent matchup last month, 53-49.
Southern Illinois improved to 19-7 after defeating in-state foe Illinois-Chicago at home. The Salukis led at the break, and they held off a late rally from the Flames to escape with a two-point victory. Southern Illinois is scoring 66.7 points per game, while allowing 61.1 ppg, and shooting 45.9% from the field.
Southern Illinois responded to their first pair of losses in a month with home wins over Missouri State and UIC, and they’ll now look to create some separation atop the conference. The Salukis are 11-4 in MVC play, with a 6-5 road record. Marcus Domask has been the heart of the program for four seasons. The 6’6 forward scored 24 points in the win over UIC last time out, and he leads the team in scoring (17.1), rebounding (5,8), and assists (3.8). Fellow senior guard Lance Jones brings 110 games of experience to the lineup, and he’s second on the team at 14.2 ppg.
