Southeast Missouri State Redhawks (5-6) vs. Iowa Hawkeyes (7-3)

The 2022-23 college basketball betting action continues Saturday, December 17, with a ton of interesting matchups around the nation, so we are breaking down the non-conference showdown between the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks and Iowa Hawkeyes. 

The Redhawks head to Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City as massive 22-point underdogs with a total of 152.5 points. Southeast Missouri State meets Iowa for the first time since 2008 when the Hawkeyes earned a 75-41 victory as 19-point favorites.  

The Southeast Missouri State Redhawks (5-6; 5-4 ATS) are riding a five-game losing streak following Wednesday’s 68-61 defeat as 3-point road underdogs at Arkansas State. They blew an 11-point second-half lead, finishing the game with a 12/16 assist-to-turnover ratio and 38.3% shooting from the field (8-for-23 from deep). 

The Redhawks also missed nine of their 26 attempts from the charity stripe against the Red Wolves. Freshman forward Adam Larson led SEMO with 19 points, sophomore guard Phillip Russell had 13 points and a couple of assists, and senior guard Chris Harris added ten points and three dimes off the bench. 

SEMO is No. 218 in the NCAA NET Rankings and No. 275 in the KenPom rankings. The Redhawks love to play at a fast pace and register 71.8 possessions per 40 minutes (43rd in the nation). They score 96.7 points per 100 possessions (296th) and surrender 105.5 points in a return (248th). The Redhawks make just 41.4% of their field goals (316th) and allow 22.8 free-throw attempts per contest (344th).
