South Dakota State at UMKC Prediction – Basketball Picks 1/30/23

The South Dakota State Bison will head down to Kansas City and face the UMKC Roos in Summit League play from the Swinney Rec Center on SDSU hold the head-to-head lead, 19-4, after winning seven meetings in a row.

South Dakota State dropped to 11-11 after losing to Western Illinois on the road. The Jackrabbits blew a massive halftime lead, and fell apart in overtime to lose to the Leathernecks, 81-73. SDSU scores 67.9 points per game, while allowing 69.7 ppg, and shooting 43.3% from the floor.

South Dakota State’s eventful non-conference slate appears to have set them back this season. The Jackrabbits have been competitive, but a 3-7 start has left them with little room for error, and Oral Roberts looks like their running away with the Summit League crown. Zeke Mayo is thriving in a bigger role this season, and after scoring 23 points or more in each of the past four games, he leads SDSU in scoring (17.3), rebounding (6.3), and assists (3.4). Fifth-year forward Matt Dentlinger scored a season-high 26 points in the win over in-state for South Dakota, and he’s averaging 11.1 ppg and 5.2 rpg. Fellow veteran Alex Arians grabs an identical 5.2 rpg, while scoring 8.1 ppg.
