Bowl game season is underway after an exciting 2022 college football campaign. One successful program taking part in the postseason once again is the South Carolina Gamecocks, who will face Notre Dame in the Gator Bowl on Friday, Dec. 30.

South Carolina Bowl Game History
College football fans shouldn't be surprised to learn South Carolina has built a respectable bowl game history over the years. The Gamecocks are making a bowl appearance for the second straight season and have played in a total of 24 bowl games prior to the Gator Bowl on Friday afternoon.
South Carolina's first bowl appearance came in the 1946 Gator Bowl under head coach Rex Enright. The Gamecocks fell short in a 26-14 loss to Wake Forest and didn't earn their fir st bowl in until 49 years later. They took down the West Virginia Mountaineers, 24-21, in the 1995 Carquest Bowl.
The Gamecocks' most recent bowl appearance came in last year's Duke's Mayo Bowl under the guidance of head coach Shane Beamer. South Carolina defeated North Carolina, 38-21, and has won six of its last eight bowl games. It will have a shot to keep that success going in Jacksonville.
