A pair of programs from the Sun Belt take the floor in search of a victory as they tangle down in the bayou. The South Alabama Jaguars are on the road as they travel to take on the UL Monroe Warhawks Thursday night. South Alabama was outgunned 88-79 at home by Louisiana in their previous contest Saturday, failing to cover the line as a one-point underdog. UL Monroe snapped a skid as they took down Old Dominion 80-73 on the road in their previous contest Saturday, winning outright as an 11-point underdog. In the all-time series between the teams, the Jaguars own a 17-14 advantage and have won the last five meetings. That includes an 81-45 home win in the most recent matchup on February 18, 2023.

South Alabama saw their two-game win streak snapped as they were beaten at home by Louisiana in their previous contest Saturday. The Jaguars dropped to 10-9 overall and stand 10th in conference play in the Sun Belt as they have a 3-4 mark. Against Louisiana, South Alabama scored the game’s first seven points and led by four with 7:25 to play in the first half before giving up a 9-0 run to trail 30-25 with 2:58 to go before halftime. The Jaguars never led again, failing to get closer than two the rest of the way. South Alabama shot 52.7% from the field, including seven of 18 from three-point range, and lost the rebounding battle 39-22. Isiah Gaiter led the Jaguars with 25 points in the loss.

The Jaguars average 74.4 points per game so far this season as a team, putting them 188th in the nation in scoring offense. South Alabama hauls in 33.6 rebounds per contest while dishing out 10.8 assists per contest.
