After a 20+ win season in 2021-22, the SMU Mustangs have not been able to replicate that success this season. SMU has just 10 wins on the season, one of which came on Sunday when the Mustangs defeated East Carolina, 86-70. Samuell Williamson led the way with 20 points while adding nine rebounds and four steals for the Mustangs. Efe Odigie contributed 18 points as well, hitting 8-of-10 from the floor, and had nine rebounds as well. SMU shot 51% from the field and out-rebounded East Carolina 42-28 in the win.

SMU sits in eighth place in the AAC coming into this game. The Mustangs have two games left after this one, against Memphis and on the road at Cincinnati.
