SMU is set to start their season on the road. The Mustangs are going to take on rival North Texas in what is sure to be an interesting game. The Mustangs last season finished with a 8-4 record overall and that does include a 35-12 win over North Texas.'
Tanner Mordecai is coming back to lead the Mustangs offense as a senior. Last season Mordecai went 308/454 for 3,628 yards and 39 touchdowns with only 12 picks. The running back is Tre Siggers who last season carried the ball 147 times for 727 yards and only 9 scores. The defense for SMU is bringing back 7 starters.
The Mean Green get to open the season at Apogee Stadium in what should be a loud Saturday afternoon crowd. The Mean Green are coming off of a season that seen North Texas finish just under the five hundred mark at 6-7. The Mean Green did lose in the Frisco Football Classic in the post season.
