It’s a Garden State battle in college hoops as the Big East clashes with the Big Ten on the hardwood. The Seton Hall Pirates are on the road as they make the in-state trip to face the Rutgers Scarlet Knights Sunday evening. Seton Hall snapped a three-game skid as they knocked off Lincoln (PA) 82-55 in their previous contest Wednesday night. Rutgers was edged 67-66 on the road by #25 Ohio State in their previous game, though they did cover the line as a 5.5-point underdog Thursday night. In the all-time series between the teams, Seton Hall owns a 36-25 advantage and have won six of the last eight meetings. That includes a 77-63 home win in the most recent matchup on December 12, 2021.

Seton Hall snapped a three-game slide as they beat a non-Division I program in Lincoln (PA) their last time out. The Pirates improved to 5-4 on the year but Shaheen Holloway’s group has a stiffer challenge in this contest. Against Lincoln (PA), Seton Hall trailed 28-26 with 2:45 to play in the first half before reeling off a 15-1 run spanning both halves that put them in front 41-29 with 18:15 to go. The Pirates never let the Lions closer than four the rest of the way to earn the win. Seton Hall shot 50.9% from the field, including five of 21 from three-point range, and controlled the boards 45-26 to offset turning the ball over 19 times. KC Ndefo led the Pirates with 17 points and seven rebounds in the victory as one of five players in double figures.
