The Mariners entered Saturday losers of three straight and dropped to 11-15, leaving them fourth in the AL West, four games behind the Rangers for the top spot. On Friday night, Julio Rodriguez, Jarred Kelenic (run) and Cal Raleigh (run, two RBI) each had two hits in the game for Seattle, while the rest of the team was hitless. Raleigh hit his third homer of the season in the loss for the Mariners. Luis Castillo didn’t factor in the decision as he threw five innings, allowing two runs on six hits with two walks and four strikeouts. Trevor Gott (0-1) took the loss as he allowed one run on two hits with no walks and one strikeout over one inning of work.

Marco Gonzales is on the mound for the Mariners as he logs his fifth start of the season in this contest. He comes in 2-0 w ith a 3.32 ERA, a 1.246 WHIP, seven walks and 17 strikeouts over 21.2 innings of work this season. Gonzales earned the win in his last start, which came on the road against the Phillies Tuesday night. He threw five innings, allowing one run on four hits with one walk and two strikeouts in a game the Mariners won 5-3. In his last three starts, Gonzales is 2-0 with a 2.16 ERA, a 1.14 WHIP, five walks and 16 strikeouts over 16.2 innings of work. Gonzales makes his fifth career start against the Blue Jays in this contest. He comes in 3-1 with a 2.70 ERA, a 1.05 WHIP, five walks and 14 strikeouts over 26.2 innings of work. Gonzales won his lone career start at Rogers Centre, which came on May 18, 2022. He threw six innings, allowing one run on five hits with three walks and two strikeouts in a 5-1 Mariners win.
