The Seattle Mariners are on the road as they play the middle game of a three-game series with the Minnesota Twins Tuesday night. Seattle missed a chance to sweep the Blue Jays at home over the weekend as they fell 4-3 in the series finale Sunday afternoon. Minnesota rallied to beat the White Sox 5-4 in 12 innings Sunday at home to complete a sweep of that three-game set. The Mariners entered Monday 50-49 on the season and stood fourth in the AL West, 8.5 games behind the Rangers for the top spot. They were 4.5 games behind the Blue Jays for the final wild card spot in the American League. On Sunday, Seattle finished with just five hits as no player recorded more than one in the contest. Mike Ford hit his 11th homer of the season in a losing effort for the Mariners. Bryan Woo (1-3) took the loss on the mound as he threw six innings, allowing four runs on four hits with one walk and seven strikeouts in his outing.
